...Health/Fitness: What I wear...

Disclaimer: these opinions are based on my experiences and in no way represent what you should/shouldn't be doing. When taking part in any forms of physical exercise, listen to you body and seek proper advice. Please do not use this post as a key guide in fitness. Like I said these are my opinions...

Writing this post has been a challenge for me as I am no expert when it comes to talking about fitness or health but I know from my experience what works best for me, and what has been working over the past few months.

Let me start with my fitness journey and healthy eating patterns. I began to become more aware of what I was eating during my last year of University and really took great care when choosing foods during the weekly shop. From that I did loose a bit of weight and was really happy with the changes. When I finished and graduated I kept up the routine of eating right and paying attention to my weight. It wasn't until the following year that I joined a gym and found the benefits of working out and getting my sweat on. I did various classes, got into running (which lead to me completing my first ever 5K - Race for Life) and developed a love and passion for yoga. This regular and consistent form of exercising continued on/off for the past two years, mostly picking up speed during the lead up to the Summer months - bikini holidays are enough to scare anyone into getting fit, ha!

Now I rarely weigh myself and find keeping track of my measurements are a more accurate form of how my body is changing for the better or sometimes for the worse. At the current moment my weight has stayed the same for the last two months and have really only lost a few pounds. What I've found is that I have definitely gained some great muscle weight, tone and definition with regards to my body shape. I will talk more at a later stage about my changing body, my workout routine and healthy eating patterns. Here I wanted to talk about what I wear during my workouts. I like to wear items that have room for vigorous movements and fabrics that are breathable, especially as I like to go running and hate my clothes sticking to my body. When I do my DVD's I generally wear a pair of shorts and just my sports bra, maybe a small crop top for extra support. This is because I get very sweaty. Of course I use my yoga mat for extra padding when doing floor exercises.

I haven't gone out and brought overly expensive and fancy items of clothing but headed into my local sports shop and picked clothes that were cheap but did the job I wanted them to do. My trainers are perfect for running as they provide great ankle support and the sole has a great bounce in them. Now these trainers have been with me for years and as I barely wore them, I saw no need in purchasing new ones. Saved some pennies there. For yoga I like to wear plain, thin leggings or three quarter tracky bottoms and a vest top. Clothes that are soft and flexible are key for when practising yoga. For me looking good really motivates me to push harder during my workouts and makes me feel more comfortable in myself. This doesn't mean I go out and buy the latest brands or styles but pick clothes that appeal to me based mostly on colour and price. This may seem superficial but I think most people (not all) take just as much pride in what they wear to gym or out running as they do when dressing for any other part of their lives. Maybe, maybe not. That's just my opinion.

So there you have a little snippet into my world of fitness. Next time I will talk more about what forms of exercise I prefer and how frequently I workout...

...Pure as Silk...

Top - H&M, Jeans - ASOS via carboot, Shoes - gift, Bag - Vintage via charity shop

Another week comes to an end and another week closer till I'm on a plane jetting off on my sunny holidays. Bliss! Knowing my luck the weather will follow and Portugal won't be the promised high temps and glorious sun but rainy and overcast. Ha!

Last week saw my dad come and visit us, where I took the opportunity to take him out for a pre-father's day dinner at a wonderful Tapas restaurant in Worthing. Food was/is amazing there and the atmosphere is extremely chilled and very welcoming. Next time we visit I will try and get a review up on my blog. Some places are funny about taking photos and what not. My outfit of choice was very simple and not too formal. A delicate, pale, satin top. You wouldn't believe how careful I was when eating, trying not to splash sauce on it.  Oil stains are not the easiest to wash out. This will be another item to find its way in my suitcase next week. Very light and airy fabric for those warm nights by the coast. I paired that top with my favourite brown shoes. A gift from James last year and wore my new trench coat over the top. Post to come on that soon.

On a more fitness related note. Things are going well. Am currently on a 14 day teatox via SkinnyMeTea which I am loving. Really helping to de-bloat and get bikini ready. My skin has improved and although the scales haven't changed much, I am feeling fitter and healthier in myself. Plus they do say muscle ways more than fat, and I have been doing a lot of HIT (high intensity training). Will do a full review once the teatox is complete, possibly with some photos. You never know. If you guys would like some posts featuring more of my fitness and health routines let me know and I will do my best to put those requests into action. I'm no expert but merely giving opinions on my own experiences. Please let me know in the comments section below.

Even more seriously if you haven;t already it would be lovely if you took the time to follow me on bloglovin. You can click on the icon on the top right handside or click here...

Well, well. What can I say? Going to a small intimate gig is one of my favourite activities and in all honesty I don't go to as many gigs as I'd like to. If you remember a previous post of mine you'll know how much I admire this band and love their music. Take a look here...

What is so enjoyable about seeing this band play is that you are instantly lost in the music and are completely transfixed by the stage presence of this band. This time we managed to get right near the front. If I reached I could of touched, which admittedly I did when he wlaked through the crowd to the bar. Me and my mate were like screaming girl fans and managed to get a picture with him. Never have a I seen a man rock skinny jeans as well as him.

Here are a few snaps I took of the evening. I'm not gonna harp on about Ghostpoet, as I have already talked about how amazing they were here last time I saw them. I do urge to have a listen and if you can go see them live. Their songs translate much better live than they do on record...

...Bare Legs in the Sun...

Outfit 1: Shorts - Primark, Top - TU for Sainsbury
Outfit 2: Shirt dress - Charity shop, Sandals - Dorothy Perkins via carboot

The sun has been rearing it's pretty head over the past few weeks, and I have been relishing in the opportunities to get my pins out. They are not looking so pasty any more now. Unfortunately the good weather does not last long it seems and the temperatures have dropped again, grrrrr!

Anyhu, here are a couple of outfits I've been styling the past couple of weekends. Very simple and basic outfits that allow room to breathe when the temperatures rise about 15C. I love the the cream lace shorts. One of my best Summer buys so far and I cannot wait to take them away on holiday in two weeks. Another fave item of mine are my leather sandals. These were a steal from a local carboot sale. They were practically brand new shoes for half the original price. Perfect Summer addition to my wardrobe.

Everything over here on DayDreamBeliever is going well. Lots of stressful times over the past few weeks which are over with..for now. But it has been a lovely and very much needed restful weekend. I planned to workout; however, I just couldn't muster the energy. I have kept to my clean eating and detox teas and still feel better for it. Sometimes you need to let your body relax, recharge and repair itself. As long as I'm feeling healthy and bright then that's good for me.

I thought I would leave you with this last image taken last week when the sun was shining over Worthing beach. Hopefully it will bring the sun back, which has disappeared once more...

...Healthy Living...

Well now isn't this a nice surprise for you all. Have taken a brief hiatus from blogging as I wasn't feeling in the mood to blog.

However, I am back and hopefully there will be more to come. Have a post lined up on a gig I went to on Friday, which I am still buzzing from and an outfit post.

Today, though I want to talk about fitness and being healthy. Now I am clearly no expert and am only reciting from my own experiences over the past few weeks. For about two months now I have been trying to eat cleaner and exercise more. Not to say that I need to loose weight or anything but more to just get my life in shape from the inside as well as the outside. Don't worry this isn't going to turn into a fitness blog but I will be posting some regular snippets of my fitness and food regime.

I have been following a clean eating plan to the best that I can with a few naughty bits thrown in. I have become a lover of raw chocolate and eating as much fresh, raw fruit and veg as I can. And more recently I have found the deliciousness of Quinoa. So yummy and so good for you. One of the best things I could have added to my diet. Speaking of diets, I have not undertaken any particular diet scheme but am choosing to make better decisions when eating and trying to eat far less.

When it comes to working out I do a combination of gym sessions and a collection of home DVD's, throwing in some yoga and the odd run here or there. I like the feeling of being fit rather skinny skinny. Having a body that can achieve the best is more important to me. I have a pretty active job and need the right amounts of energy to get me through the day. It's not easy caring for 20 odd 2-3 years olds five days a week, let me tell you.

I hope this has been interesting for you to read and have given you a taste of the changes I am making to my lifestyle. Enjoy the pictures of my crazy, red, post-workout faces...
